My Father's Anniversary Ring
My father wore a ring. It was gold with a flat black onyx stone. His initials were set inset in small diamonds. It was not a wedding ring as my mother purchased it for him many years after they were wed. He wore it on the third finger of his left hand and was proud to show it to those who offered their complements, but always referred to it as his special symbol of my mother's love, his anniversary ring. You see, this was not your usual monogram ring. It was his 25th wedding anniversary gift. That ring is very special to me and it now resides in my jewelry box. I miss my father, but will always remember the day he got his Anniversary Ring.
